Bug Bounty Hunting with a Chromebook: Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Success

As a bug bounty hunter, your journey to finding the most elusive bugs can be challenging, but even more so when you have limited resources. As discussed in my previous article, I started my bug bounty hunting journey with a Chromebook, which couldn’t run Linux. However, with the help of GitHub’s Codespaces, I was able to set up a virtual environment that allowed me to participate in bug bounty programs on HackerOne and Bugcrowd.

Despite my success in finding several bugs, none of them were marked as critical enough to earn me a cash reward. I was still determined to achieve my goal of buying a Windows computer to pursue bug hunting full-time. Since writing my previous article, I still haven’t been able to achieve a bug bounty using my Chromebook without Linux.

However, I remain optimistic about the future, and I’m still searching for ways to improve my bug hunting skills. If you’re in a similar situation as I am, here are some tips to help you overcome the challenges of bug bounty hunting with limited resources:

You can join online bug hunting communities, attend conferences, or even reach out to other hunters directly. This way, you can learn from their experiences and expertise.
3. Don’t give up Bug bounty hunting is not for the faint-hearted. It can be discouraging when you spend hours searching for vulnerabilities only to find that they are not critical enough for a cash reward. However, persistence and determination are key to success in this field. Keep searching and refining your skills, and eventually, you will find the bug that earns you the payout you need.

In conclusion, bug bounty hunting with a Chromebook without Linux is not impossible. With the help of online resources, networking, and a never-give-up attitude, you can still achieve your goals.
